well, hello!

I'm Lisa Hymel, owner and photographer at Innovative Images Photography. I live in Sugar Hill, Georgia with my wonderful husband Paul, our two beautiful children Luke and Haelyn, and Hank our sweet black lab.

First, let me thank you for taking the time to visit my blog! Whether you're visiting me for the first time, or returning to view my latest work, I am so very honored that you've allowed me to share my passion for photography with you.

My love of photography began when I got my hands on my Mom’s old Polaroid as a little girl. Eventually, I saved up and purchased a second hand Nikon from a camera shop for my first photography class at Purdue University. I’ve been looking through a lens and snapping my shutter ever since.

My style is clean, uncluttered, and simple. My goal is to capture the true spirit of real people. I love shooting at your favorite park, at the lake, or in your own backyard. I also have a lovely little studio in my home if you prefer shooting indoors. I prefer to use natural light as much as possible, but I also LOVE using creative studio lighting.

As you view my portfolio, you’ll notice that my work includes everything from classic, traditional portraiture to very contemporary photojournalism (aka "lifestyle photography"). I challenge myself as an artist to think outside the box, and I make it my artistic mission to truly capture my subject's essence - not to just have you pose in ways that every other photographer out there is shooting.

When I imagine that my images of your loved ones will hang on the walls of your home or live in your treasured photo albums, I am so proud and incredibly honored.
