What To Expect/Wear

Sessions usually run about two hours.  Newborn sessions are the exception and we will take our time.  I’ll allow plenty of time to stop for feedings and clothing & diaper changes.  It is very important to me that all sessions are relaxed and FUN!

What to wear…..

If there will be more than one subject in the photograph, I find it’s best to have everyone in a few colors that compliment each other… you don’t all have to match.  Try to avoid  logos and busy patterns if possible as they are distracting to the eye and will date your photos.  Children photograph best when they are comfortable so I would suggest keeping it as simple as possible.  Newborns and young babies photograph best in bare skin.  If you’re still not sure, pack a bag and I’ll assist you at the time of our session.  I love to style shoots!  Bring interesting textures, layers, bright colors, scarves, hats, jewelry, boots…..bring it all!   Seniors, bring props…your letter jacket, a musical instrument, your dog, anything that shows your personality will make your senior pictures even more special and unique.

My style is……

Simple, clean, uncluttered.  I love shooting candid pictures that really capture my subject’s true personality and spirit.  It is imperative to me that each one of my images be outstanding and the service I provide to my clients be exceptional.

Location, location….

You choose the location.  I can come to your home, you can visit my in-home studio, or we’ll meet at your favorite outdoor location or a combination of both.  My favorite places to shoot are open fields, urban settings, historic buildings, alleys, old barnyards, and  run down locations like train depots or deserted buildings.  These locations lend to splendid photography because they have unique character and amazing textures.

Newborn sessions……

I encourage you to book these early.  You should book this appointment BEFORE your due date and schedule it to fall within the first 2 weeks of your child’s birth.  That beautiful newborn “curled up” look only lasts so long.  These are images that you will treasure for a lifetime.

Expectant mothers…

As with all portraits…simple is best.  I will do everything I can to make you feel comfortable and at ease.  I adore maternity photography and I’m honored to be able to share such an amazing time in your life and capture it on camera.  I’ve photographed moms-to-be in every situation from fully clothed to tastefully nude.  A sheer bathrobe is an excellent choice for showing off your belly, as well as fitted tank tops, or button front blouses and cardigan sweaters.  You may also want to bring a vintage scarf or wrap to drape across your belly.

A bit about weddings…

Your wedding is a special moment in your lives and the lives of your families.  I understand the importance of keeping things flowing without being too obtrusive.  I always suggest shooting as many formals as possible before the ceremony even if you are not going to see each other.  This keeps the photo shoot after the ceremony to around 40 minutes and it helps keep things moving on time.
I urge you to book well in advance, as I commit to only about 6 weddings per year.

Viewing your images…

Approximately 2 weeks after your session, you will be able to view your images in a private gallery right here on my site.  Just click on “THE STORE” and enter your password to view your proofs in a private gallery setting.  Images remain in the gallery for exactly 2 weeks.  If your gallery expires, it may be reloaded for 2 additional weeks at a cost of $30.

CD of digital files…

My ultimate goal is to provide you with beautiful, timeless works of art to enjoy. I work with THE most elite professional lab and album vendors, who are calibrated with my computer monitors to provide an accurate color profile and perfect clarity.  In doing so,  I’m able to provide my clients with the best quality products in the industry.  I  also provide a slide show with the purchase of any album or portrait package for you to share with your friends and family. However, I do realize that many clients prefer to have digital copies of the files to keep or to share on blogs and Facebook.   So…I’m now offering both low  resolution versions (for digital photo frames or web sharing) and high, print resolution files with all of my portrait packages and albums.  Please visit the pricing page for more information.
