A few things about me →
I’m Lisa Hymel & I’m a mommy to two little ones, ages 4 and 8, & we live in Suwanee GA. We’ve been living in Georgia for a little over 8 years now, before moving here we were living in the East Bay of San Francisco. GA is now home to us and we love it – we’re here to stay.
I grew up in the Midwest & I’m a graduate of Purdue University. I studied Exercise Physiology & English at Purdue, but I didn’t really discover photography until my junior year. I spent many hours shooting, developing (in the dark room – yep, old school!) and printing photographs during my junior and senior years of college.
I put photography on the back burner for a bit after I graduated from college, and I went to work for the American College of Sports Medicine in Indianapolis. While I loved working there, I knew eventually I would to take my passion for photography and turn it into a career. Just after our son was born, I invested in my first Nikon digital DSLR, I began creating images of my baby & I’ve never stopped! I worked for a local studio for several years, & started my own photography business in 2009.
As you view my portfolio, you’ll notice that my work includes everything from classic, traditional portraiture to contemporary photojournalism. I challenge myself as an artist to think outside the box, and I make it my artistic mission to truly capture each person’s spirit & personality – not to just have you pose in ways that every other photographer out there is shooting.
When I imagine that my images of your loved ones will hang on the walls of your home or live in your treasured photo albums, I am so proud and incredibly honored.
